Newgen (Topman)
Now moved from its last years location to the front of Summerset house it consisted of a series of white washed wooden sheds with contained out door spaces between them each with 4 compartments one for easch designer.
Walking into Newgen you are welcomed with an open bar of both soft vitamin water drinks and something that I suspect was sparkling wine.
This space was buzzing with live instillations, one of my favorites, the Katie Eary's collection featured a boxing rink with boys from a boxing club wearing the designer clothing whilst continuously fighting each other. Next a band of 5 playing what I believe to be jazz music but they had paused whilst I went past so I didn’t quite catch it. The last instillation was for Christopher Raeburn who had a model sat at a sewing machine making a toy bunnies. I later found out that the company constructs these rabbits out of recycled scraps of fabric from their collection. They also mentioned that the material used in their waterproof jackets was infact waste parachute fabric that the military disused after testing parachutes, a really interesting way of recycling fabric.
